Bullabase – 2013-16

2011 - 2015, Sculpture 18th August 2016

The Bull was made for and rejected by Bord Bia for the Bocuse D’or food extravaganza in France in 2013. It was considered too far from my usual, more architectural bull, so it was replaced by the latter for that commission. Eventually the sketch-pad presented a suitable base to alleviate the bull’s rejection and allow it to tower above its rivals.

  • 60 x 38 x 24cm.
  • Ceramic with bronze and resin.
  • Leafed in variegated bronze.
  • Wooden base
  • Painted and patterned in variegated bronze leaf

Iphonagraph – 2016

2011 - 2015, Sculpture 18th August 2016

A thing of beauty is a joy for….. even after the phone is deemed redundant, the Iphonagraph will summon wonder from the mind of the viewer. Slide a phone into the small end of this and your music / conference call will come out the big end with volume and presence.

  • 87 x 52 cm.
  • 3mm Birch Plywood.
  • Brush painted in artist’s acrylic.
  • Finished in layers of Microcrystalline Wax.
  • Branding in bronze leaf.

Currency Cannon – 2012-2014

2011 - 2015, Sculpture 18th August 2016

2 metres long. A final solution to the banking problem, return the money to the banks at high velocity. Slab built ceramic was used to make cannon. It was built in sections to fit into the kiln, these were then glued and pinned together with bronze rods. The axles ended up being wooden rolling pins from the studio (I miss them) and the cannon balls are hollow plastic spheres found on the web. The decorative balls on the cannon itself are wood, the centre axle stainless steel, and the eye is a glass marble. The whole thing was painted in gold acrylic and then covered with gold wax and polished. Two years of sheer fun.

  • More bang for your buck!
  • 2012 – 2014  Ceramic structure with stainless steel, bronze, wood, resin and one glass marble.
  • 2m x 80cm x 70cm
